“Truly appreciate those around you, and you’ll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it.
- Ralph Marston
So we just celebrated Thanksgiving in the U.S. This is a great time for people to tell others who and what they are thankful for. However, many times people’s words don’t match up to their actions. People will say they are thankful for people, but then turn around and treat them like dirt. On the other hand, some people may not say they are thankful, yet their actions show they really are thankful.
In today's busy world, it’s amazing how nice it is to get a simple smile, hello, or polite gesture. If you are truly thankful for what others do, you can ensure every interaction with them shows it.
This is especially true with leaders. Leaders actions can show how thankful they are much more than their words. Take a moment today to reflect on your actions; are they saying how thankful you are or are they displaying other emotions? Take some time to figure out how you can show you are thankful for each one of your people.
People respond better to thankful actions than they do to words. Go out and show people how thankful you are. Thankfulness doesn’t have to be reserved for one day each year; make it a point to share your thankfulness throughout the year. You’ll be amazed how people around you will respond!
